Trump will claim a diplomatic victory – but the one thing the UAE-Israel deal does is make Middle East diplomacy ever more complicated

As with much diplomacy, projection is often the thing that matters most. The announcement by Donald Trump that the US has helped broker a deal that involves the “full normalisation” of ties between the United Arab Emirates and Israel falls into this category.

That is not to say it isn’t historic if the deal is as advertised. Jordan was the last Arab nation to accept ties with Israel, back in 1994. And before that, only Egypt made a peace deal with Israel – in 1979. Mauritania recognised Israel in 1999, but later ended relations in 2009…

Production of COVID-19 Vaccine Starts in Russia, But Half of Country’s Medics Won’t Take It

Source: Newsweek

By Brendan Cole

More than half of medics surveyed in Russia have said they do not trust the COVID-19 vaccine touted by President Vladimir Putin as the country announced it had started its widespread production.

Russia’s health ministry announced on Saturday that the production of the vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Institute outside of Moscow “had begun” with the Tass news agency reporting that 20 countries have asked for the supply of one billion doses.

However it appears that enthusiasm for the vaccine expressed by Putin, who said it had been taken by one of his daughters and offers “sustainable immunity”, is not shared across the Russian medical establishment.

CIA Behind Guccifer & Russiagate – a Plausible Scenario

The Most Revolutionary Act

Strategic Culture Foundation | August 14, 2020

William Binney is the former technical director of the U.S. National Security Agency who worked at the agency for 30 years. He is a respected independent critic of how American intelligence services abuse their powers to illegally spy on private communications of U.S. citizens and around the globe. Given his expert inside knowledge, it is worth paying attention to what Binney says.

In a media interview this week, he dismissed the so-called Russiagate scandal as a “fabrication” orchestrated by the American Central Intelligence Agency. Many other observers have come to the same conclusion about allegations that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. elections with the objective of helping Donald Trump get elected.

But what is particularly valuable about Binney’s judgment is that he cites technical analysis disproving the Russiagate narrative. That narrative remains dominant among U.S. intelligence officials, politicians and pundits, especially those…

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico will need up to 200 million coronavirus vaccine doses, according to a senior government official, and inoculation of its 120 million inhabitants could start as early as April if clinical trials and regulatory approvals for pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca Plc go as planned.

In partnership with the governments of Mexico and Argentina, AstraZeneca initially plans to produce 150 million doses in early 2021 and eventually make at least 400 million doses for distribution throughout Latin America. AstraZeneca is among those working on COVID-19 vaccine candidates now in development around the world.

Mexico’s government also has said it is considering other options for bringing a vaccine quickly to its population, the second-largest in Latin America.

New York (CNN Business) The race for a successful coronavirus vaccine is heating up in labs around the world — and on Wall Street. Germany’s CureVac, a biotech with the backing of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, more than tripled in its first day of trading Friday.

CureVac priced its initial public offering at $16 a share. The stock soared nearly 250%, to just below $56, by the end of the day.

The company, which is competing with the likes of Moderna (MRNA), Novavax (NVAX), BioNTech (BNTX) and Pfizer (PFE), is also backed by billionaire Dietmar Hopp, the co-founder of German software giant SAP (SAP).

Hopp owns nearly half of CureVac. The German government and Big Pharma leader GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) also have big stakes.

AMERIKA: ‘Ruleless-ness’, America’s Death March – By Chris Hedges

RIELPOLITIK

Source – geopolitics.co

“…Political, economic and social dysfunction define the American empire. Our staggering inability to contain the pandemic, which now infects over 5 million Americans, and the failure to cope with the economic fallout the pandemic has caused, has exposed the American capitalist model as bankrupt. It has freed the world, dominated by the United States for seven decades, to look at other social and political systems that serve the common good rather than corporate greed”

Regardless of the outcome, the election will not stop the rise of hypernationalism, crisis cults, and other signs of an empire’s terminal decline.
